Life Update: Focused, Focused, Focused!

Life Update: Focused, Focused, Focused!

Hey everyone! It’s been awhile, but I have been busy! Between a relationship ending, work, business, and traveling I haven’t been posting much lately. At this point in my life I am more focused than ever. My last relationship made me realize how much of a distraction that they are for me. Don’t get me wrong, I want a long lasting relationship; a husband, kids, the whole nine yards, but just not right now. I still have a lot of growing and work to do on myself before I’m ready for all that. So with that being said, I’m focused on my business and work now in that order.

My business is something that I am passionate about. Traveling is something that I love to do and a lot of people want to do it, but just don’t know how to. That’s where I come in. I love showing people a way that they can enhance their lives. I want to impact people’s lives on so many levels, just like mine was impacted.

I also plan on finishing something that I started long ago, and that’s schooling. I’m halfway to a bachelors degree and I’ve been that way for three years now. I should have my degree by now, but I’ve made a lot of excuses as to why I have not been taking classes. Whether it was studying for promotion or my business, I made an excuse. Some would say that they are valid excuses, but they are excuses nonetheless.

Soooo, I am extremely focused and I plan on finishing out the rest of the year with a bang! I am extremely blessed and I thank God for all that he is doing in my life and is planning to do. I hope that I can continue to encourage and inspire others by living out my purpose. Always remember that your are BeYOUtiful and life is meant to be lived abundantly. Be blessed!

What’s your Plan B?

What’s your Plan B?

Do you have a Plan B? And no, I’m not talking about the pill. I’m talking about a Plan B for your income. We all have insurance on things like our home, our cars, and even our phones,  but what about our income? In this day and age if you only rely on once source of income you’re pretty irresponsible. I personally plan on being a millionaire one day soon and the average millionaire has seven streams of income. If your constantly slaving away at a job that you don’t like everyday, do something that you love instead. I’m not saying that you have to quit your job, all I’m saying is that you could do something in your spare time that can help you produce income. If you have access to the Internet, there is no reason why you shouldn’t have another source of income.

It really doesn’t even have to be that elaborate. For example, say you love to cook and you’re a great cook but you work at a retail store. In your spare time you could cook and prepare dishes and sell them. Or if you’re like meand have the ambition and entrepreneurial spirit,  you can start your own home based business by joining a network marketing company. I was first introduced to network marketing in 2013. I had an idea of what it was because I remember watching my sister sell Avon when I was a child. When I got started with my first network company it’s like my eyes were open to a new world, and I felt like I could work every company out there. I’ve probably been in six network marketing companies since I got started back in Oct 2013. I have only been successful in two of them, and of the two one of them no longer exists. Along my journey I have found that the first company I did join was the right company for me and once I started to focus on that I started getting paid. Now I make a residual income which means I get paid monthly whether I do anything or not, and that’s pretty awesome. I was able to give myself a raise and not wait on the military to decide if I was ready to get promoted or not.

Believe it or not, you and only you have comple control over your finances. You can control if you want to make a lot of money or a little money. I just want to stress how important it is to have a Plan B. People get laid off everyday and are in a rut because they were solely dependent on that one check. Don’t let that be you.

When is enough, enough?

Everyone wants to be a baller, shot-caller right? Everyone wants to to have a lot of money and live this lavish lifestyle correct? We all know that is not the reality for most people, but some people do live the lavish lifestyle. My question is when is enough, enough? What is the amount of money that you want to make monthly, or yearly that you will be satisfied with earning the rest of your life? That number for me is $20K monthly. Once I start making $20K a month I’ll be content. That means I would need to make four times the amount of money that I make now. I personally know people that make that type of money, and they still aren’t content. They still strive to get to the next level.

To me it seems like everybody is so busy hustling and not living. Sometimes it’s good to just sit back for a minute and appreciate what you do have before it’s gone. Sometimes we focus on the future so much that we forget the right now. What are you doing in your life right now that is making you happy? You can always plan for the future, but you still have to live in the present. This is one topic that I struggle with myself all the time. It’s so easy to be greedy, and I believe alot of people are. If you’re a greedy person no amount of money will ever be enough for you. If you are not using your resources to help others anyway, then what’s the point?

Lemonade.

Lemonade.

That is such a fitting title especially since Queen Bey just came out with her world stopping album Lemonade. A lot of people missed her whole point behind her visual album, but I understand where she’s coming from. The saying goes, “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” I like to say when life hands you lemons, make lemonade then, sell it! You might as well make a profit off all that sourness. (Actually, that’s exactly what Beyoncé did.)

I have been handed so many lemons in life…so many. Most people would give up hope or quit since that’s the easier option. I made lemonade after my mother died when I was 21 years old. Now everything I do is to make her proud in her absence. I made lemonade when I realized that I didn’t have enough money to go to college, so I joined the military. I made lemonade out of being married at 19 and divorced at 24. I now know the true meaning of marriage and what it takes to sustain a commitment like that. My next husband will be a blessed man. I made lemonade out of people telling me that I would be another statistic and doubt me in my youth by becoming a woman that they can’t even spar with.

I am not arrogant, just confident. You have to be confident in yourself. Anyone that confuses confidence with arrogance will be intimidated by a confident person. So when life hands you lemons, make lemonade and know that it’s the best lemonade out there. Everybody is going to want to buy your lemonade! In this game called life, we can all learn from each other. At times I get scared and nervous, and I don’t think that I can do something. That’s when I look to God and ask for his help. I know that with Him all things are possible. With trust in God and belief in yourself, you can do anything. I hope that this helped you in some way. As always remember that you’re beYOUtiful, and life is meant to be lived abundantly.

Just Jump!!

Just Jump!!

Have you ever heard that “doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will”? I have heard that time and time again within the past two and a half years. Taking the first step towards your dreams is something that is very hard to do. Most people are afraid of failure, but a lot of people don’t believe in themselves, so they don’t even give themselves a chance to fail. I have struggled with this myself. It’s easy to stick to what you know and stay in your comfort zone. It’s so scary to put yourself out there, because you don’t know what to expect.

The first big jump that I made in my adult life was joining the Air Force. It seemed like everyone that was graduating high school with me was going to college. I had plans on going to college after high school myself, and never even thought of the military. The plan was to join the reserves and have them pay for my college. That plan fell through because it was hard for me to get back and forth from the reservist recruiter that was an hour and a half away. I decided to just take the leap of faith and go active duty. Thank God I had four years of JROTC experience under my belt, which helped me earn some extra rank upon enlisting. Basic military training was the hardest thing that I had to do at that time of my life. I remember wanting to quit in the second week. BMT was only 8.5 weeks long. Going to church while I was there is the main reason why I kept pushing, and I didn’t want to let my family down. Fast forward six years later, that was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Because of the Air Force I was able to live in Europe for three years, visit about 13 countries while I was there, and purchase my first home at the age of 22. If I had never jumped and just followed the crowd I wouldn’t be where I am today.

My question to you is what is holding you back from making that big decision in your life, or following your dreams? Why aren’t you jumping? I’ve learned that the parachute opens on your way down, but it won’t ever open if you don’t jump. I never would have thought that this would be my life. I’ve gone through so much in such a little time; I could write a book. Every experience that I’ve gone through has shaped me into the woman who I am today. Since that first jump of joining the Air Force, I’ve jumped many more times. They never get easier, I just get better at it. You can do the same thing. As always, remember that you are BeYOUtiful and life is meant to be lived abundantly. You’ll never reach abundance if you don’t jump.
