Hello everyone! There’s alot of pandemonium going on in the world, but it’s in times like these we need to remain the most calm. Trust me, I know it can be easier said than done for some people, but it can be done. Stress, nor fear will help the situation, so why add to the chaos? The COVID-19 virus has took the world by storm, and alot of people are reacting to this crisis. Many of us have been told to self-quarantine and practice social distancing, which ulitmately means to stay at home. If you’re like me and work Monday through Friday, staying at home can get pretty boring after a while. I’ve come up with a list of things that you can do during this time to pass the time in a more productive way.
Here are five tips to keep you sane during this crazy time.
1. Clean up
Cleaning up might not sound like the funnest thing to do, but given the circumstances of this quarantine, I highly recommend cleaning and disinfecting your home. Also, cleaning can be fun! I always have a party when I clean. Blast some music and get to it! You can dance your heart away without being judged, and you also burn calories at the same time, which is an added bonus.
Something that I haven’t had a chance to do since I’ve been in Greece is to actually walk around my neighborhood. Most of the gyms are closed, but no one said that you couldn’t workout outside. Taking a walk throughout the day will lift your mood, give you some natural vitamin D, and burn calories. Working out at home is also an option. There are many home workouts online that you can find on Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
3. Read a book
You know that book that you’ve been telling yourself that you’re going to read since the year started? Pick that up and actually read it now since you have the time. Now is the perfect time to do so. If you really don’t like reading you can listen to an audiobook instead. Audiobooks are awesome because you can listen while doing other things like cleaning and exercising. My favorite audio books are those that are read by the author. Kevin Hart, Michelle Obama, Jenifer Lewis, and many others have audio versions of their books that they read themselves. I highly recommend their books.
4. Learn a new skill
Maybe you’ve been too busy to start that new venture, or learn that new skill that’s peaked your interest. If that’s you, you are not alone. I have been putting off getting my Youtube channel started because I don’t know how to edit videos, but now I have all this free time to learn how.
5. Practice Self-Care
Honestly, the biggest thing that you should be doing this time is taking care of yourself. Relax, don’t freak out, and make sure that when this has passed, you come out better than you started. Self-care can mean many different things to different people. For me self-care is taking care of my skin with at home facials, doing my hair, making sure my body is moisturized, drinking my herbal tea, and anything that makes me feel good and zen. I also love buring candles. I notice that they calm me and taking baths with either bath bombs or epsom salt relaxes me as well.
I hope these tips are helpful for you. There’s honestly many things that you can do during this time to ensure your sanity. If you have children at home during this time, good luck and more power to you. This is a great time to bond with those that you love as well. If they are near or far. Technology allows us to stay connected, so let’s be thankful for that.
Stay safe out there and remember that you are be-YOU-tiful and life is meant to be lived abundantly!
